Following four years at the West London club, Thiago Silva has decided he will leave Chelsea at the end of this season.
The Brazilian who joined the club on a free transfer from French giants, Paris St-Germain in 2020, has made 151 appearances for the Blues, winning three trophies, including the 2020-21 Champions League.
“Chelsea means a lot to me. I came here intending to only stay for a year and it ended up being four years,” he said.
“It is already hard saying goodbye in the most normal of circumstances but when there is a mutual love, it’s even harder. But once a Blue, always a Blue.” He added that the love he has for the club is “indescribable”.
In his four years at the club, he has played under four different managers, including Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, and the incumbent Mauricio Pochettino.
He has played 34 times in all competitions for Chelsea this season, including 25 starts in the Premier League.
Silva, who has been capped 113 times by Brazil, says he hopes to return to the club in another role in the future. ” Goodbyes are for those that leave and don’t come back. I intend on coming back one day”, he said.
