The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has ordered the immediate reassignment of five judges across various judicial divisions of the court.

This directive was announced in a statement signed by Catherine Christopher, the Director of Information at the Federal High Court of Nigeria.

The statement detailed the redeployments as follows:

    • Justice M. Umar has been reassigned from the Enugu Judicial Division to Abuja.
    • Justice Tijjani Ringim will move from the Gombe Division to the Yola Division.
    • Justice M. Segun-Bello will transfer from the Abakaliki Division to the Enugu Division.
    • Justice Bala Usman is moving from the Yola Division to the Awka Division.
    • Justice Amina Mohammed will relocate from the Awka Division to the Gombe Division.

These postings are to take effect immediately. The affected judges have been instructed to expedite the delivery of all pending judgments at their current stations before transitioning to their new assignments.

Additionally, judges currently based in the Abakaliki and Katsina Judicial Divisions are tasked with managing all cases, including both ongoing and newly instituted ones, within their jurisdictions until further notice.

The statement also clarified that all cases previously assigned to Court No. 5 in the Abuja Judicial Division will now be overseen by the judge transferred to Abuja for this purpose. As such, litigants and legal counsel are not required to apply for the reassignment of these cases.
