Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has commenced a visit to four African countries: Namibia, the Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, and Chad. This marks the 35th consecutive year that Wang has chosen Africa as the destination for his first overseas trip, underscoring the deep-rooted partnership between China and the continent.
The trip aims to address key challenges facing Africa, such as poverty alleviation, infrastructure development, and sustainable growth. Raphael Obonyo, an African youth and public policy analyst, highlighted China’s commitment to win-win cooperation, emphasizing mutual progress for both China and Africa.
Wang’s visit is expected to boost diplomatic relations and economic partnerships, particularly in infrastructure. It will also foster people-to-people exchanges beyond economic interests, with a focus on peace, stability, and development. The visit supports the ongoing outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
