According to Beijing’s foreign ministry, China will host Russia and Iran for trilateral discussions on Tehran’s nuclear programme on Friday.
“The three parties will exchange views on the Iranian nuclear issue and other issues of mutual interest,” a spokesperson for the foreign ministry stated on Wednesday.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov Sergey Alexeevich, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu will also be present at the meeting.
Washington withdrew from the historic agreement that had placed restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions during the first term of US President Donald Trump, which concluded in 2021.

After Washington’s exit, Tehran complied with the 2015 agreement for a year before starting to pull out.
Since then, attempts to revive the agreement have failed.
