Frank Geng-Quangrong, a Chinese national, admitted to stabbing Ummukulsum Sani, his Nigerian girlfriend, on Thursday in front of the Kano High Court.

The Chinese lover stated to the court what happened on the day, claiming Ummukulsam injured him in his genitals.

He stated this during his cross-examination by the prosecution’s attorney, Kano State Director Public Prosecution (DPP) Aisha Mahmoud.

“I stabbed her without the intention of killing her. I went out of the room through the window since the door was locked from outside and wanted to take Ummukulsum to the hospital but then, the police arrived and arrested me,” Geng-Quangrong said.

He stated before the court that he left China for Nigeria in 2019 to start working as a marketing and sales manager at the BBY Textile Company in Kano.

The case is said to have happened on September 16, 2022, but the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecution claims that the offence violates the guidelines in Section 221(b) of the Criminal Code. According to Justice Sanusi Maaji, the attorney must provide the prosecution with their witness list and medical dictionary.

Hence, a new date has been set for the case’s adjournment—April 6—for the continuation of the defense’s cross-examination.
