Chinese national, Lu Ke has been apprehended in Zambia following various allegations by women and children in Malawi that he abused them.
His arrest was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Central Region’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services, Pasqually Zulu.
Zambia’s Nyasa Times confirmed the arrest of the man also known as Susu as he attempted to flee.
“He is currently in the police custody of the Zambian police pending official repatriation into Malawi,” said Zulu in an interview on Monday.
Malawi’s Minister of National Unity, Timothy Pagonachi Mtambo also confirmed the arrest and expressed his happiness as the man had terrorised Malawian locals.
Mtambo also spoke to journalists on the issue and said the man will be rightly treated according to the weight of his offense.
“We invited them (journalists) so that we could update them on the steps the government has taken in ensuring that justice prevails on the matter by ensuring that the suspect is arrested and dealt with accordingly by the law,” said Mtambo.
Lu had appeared in an investigative video by the BBC where he gathered young children in Malawi and chanted racist words to them in Chinese to be repeated by the hnsuspecting kids.
