The 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, CHOGM, was held in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, and Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has already flown back to Abuja.

On Sunday night, Buhari arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport’s presidential terminal.

The President attended the official opening ceremony on June 24 in Kigali. On June 24 and 25, there were high-level meetings of heads of state and government.

President Buhari advised Nigerians to maintain their unity and avoid any trend toward division after visiting the Rwandan memorial, which displays the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide.

Additionally, he met with Nigerians residing in Rwanda and had high-level bilateral conversations with other Commonwealth leaders, such as Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister.

The Nigerian president promised Boris Johnson during their conversation that he will step down from office at the end of his term in 2023.

Geoffrey Onyeama, the minister of foreign affairs, Zainab Ahmed, the ministers of finance, the budget, and national planning, Osagie Ehanire, the minister of health, Mohammed Abdullahi, and Isa Ali Pantami, the minister of communications and the digital economy, traveled with President Buhari.

The National Security Advisor, Maj-Gen Babagana Monguno (ret. ), the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar, and the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, are also in the president’s entourage.
