Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored his 10th goal in nine games to help Bayern Munich beat Schalke 2-0 and take the lead in the Bundesliga going into the World Cup break.
The Cameroon striker had scored in seven straight games before Tuesday’s 6-1 win over Werder Bremen. He was eager to get back to scoring, and he did so against his old team by scoring Bayern’s second goal after Serge Gnabry had given the Bundesliga champions the lead in the 38th minute.
Choupo-Moting is in great shape right before he goes to the World Cup with the Indomitable Lions. His goal on Saturday was his 11th of the season in all competitions.
He has scored six goals in the Bundesliga, the same number as clubmate, Sadio Mane. Only Gnabry (eight goals) and Musiala (nine goals) have scored more for the club in the league than him this season.
Choupo-Moting will now turn his attention to the World Cup, where Cameroon are in Group G with Switzerland, Serbia, and Brazil.
