Chris Rock Talks: Will Smith Oscars Slap in Netflix Special (News Central TV)

American comedian Chris Rock is back in the news following his new Netflix special. The 58-year-old stand-up star and actor made reference to the infamous Oscars slap from Will Smith in the new show, calling it painful.

“You know what people say, they say, ‘words hurt, Anybody that say words hurt has never been punched in the face.” he said

The Grammy-winning star spoke at length about the live altercation between Will smith and himself at the 2022 Academy Awards that led to Smith’s 10-year-long dismissal from the global ceremony.

Although Will Smith has apologised and further explained that bottled rage led to his actions, Chris Rock made sure to joke about trying not to trigger anyone with his jokes on the Netflix special. He also tackled a wide range of issues, including woke culture, Meghan Markle and politics.

Rock who towards the end of the show mentioned his parents taught him never to fight in front of white people also revealed he believes Smith’s slap showed more about his struggles in his relationship with Jada Pinkett and less about his Oscars joke.

The Chris Rock special titled “Selective Outrage,” became Netflix’s first live global streaming event ever – it was performed from Baltimore on Saturday, 4th March to set the record.
