The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has discovered shipments of cocaine and pharmaceutical opioids hidden in women’s sanitary pads and hair treatment cream containers en route to the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Cyprus.
According to a statement from the Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Bbafemi, officers found 1.1 kilograms of cocaine concealed in hair cream containers among at least 30 parcels at a logistics company, intended for delivery in Ireland on September 3, 2024.
Additionally, another 24 parcels of cocaine weighing 862 grams hidden in hair cream containers destined for the UK were intercepted at the same company on September 6.
Furthermore, a separate courier firm in Lagos yielded a seizure of 525 pills of tramadol 225mg and ecstasy (MDMA) concealed in women’s sanitary pads bound for Cyprus on September 3.
The NDLEA also reported the interception of a shipment destined for London, UK, containing 200 ampoules of promethazine injection and pentazocine injection hidden within food items and herbs, seized on September 4.
