The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has reiterated that Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) are required to replace faulty or outdated electricity meters free of charge.
In a public notice issued on Friday, NERC clarified that consumers should not bear the cost of replacing defective or obsolete meters, except in cases where the damage is caused by the user.
The directive aims to safeguard electricity consumers and ensure access to reliable services while avoiding unfair charges due to malfunctioning meters.
