The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the legitimate president of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers (NURTW).
The court also confirmed the ruling made by the Industrial Court on March 11, 2024, regarding Suit No. NICN/ABJ/263/2023.
The judges stated that the appeal brought forth by Najeem Usman Yasin, Tajudeen Agbede, and others, which contested the Industrial Court’s decision recognising Baruwa as President, was without merit and consequently dismissed it.
In a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the ruling, bearing Appeal No. CA/ABJ//CV/293/2024, delivered on Friday, November 8, a panel of three judges—Justice Hamma Akawu Barka, Nnamdi Okwy Dimgba, and Asmau Ojuolape Akanbi—also affirmed Baruwa’s status as the legitimately elected President of the union.
The appellate court further ordered that N100,000 be awarded against the Appellant in favour of the Respondents.
