A magistrates’ court in Bolade Oshodi on Tuesday remanded 34 individuals in prison until July 22, 2025, for engaging in street trading along the median of Alaba Rago in Ojo, situated on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The arrested people, comprising 32 men and 2 women, were apprehended over the weekend during a joint operation carried out by officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) task force and the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).

The operation aimed to clear the road median, which had been overtaken by illegal traders erecting makeshift structures.

Among those detained were suspected miscreants accused of living in shanties on the median and using the location as a base for criminal activity.

Commenting on the development, the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enforcing environmental and public order laws without exception.

He urged all residents to uphold basic standards of decency and support efforts to maintain a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos.
