A High Court in Abuja has granted bail of N10 million to each of the ten members of the #EndBadGovernance protesters who were charged with attempting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu between August 1 and 4 this year.
In ruling on their bail applications, Justice Emeka Nwite stated that the protesters must present sureties who are property owners in Abuja, submit property documents to the court, and swear to an affidavit of means.
The court also required the defendants to each provide a surety based in Abuja who is willing to deposit their international passport and three recent passport photographs with the court.
Despite the Inspector General of Police’s objections to the bail applications, Justice Nwite ordered the defendants not to participate in any public rally during their trial. The judge also directed that the defendants be held in prison custody until they meet their bail conditions.
The court has scheduled the commencement of the trial for September 27.
