Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has omitted goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and defender Antonio Rüdiger from the squad set to face Rayo Vallecano at home on Sunday.

According to Spanish media, Rüdiger is dealing with an illness, while Courtois is experiencing knee discomfort. However, both players are expected to be available for Real Madrid’s crucial Champions League last-16 second-leg clash against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

Madrid, currently third in La Liga, trail leaders Barcelona by three points and Atletico Madrid by two. Atletico are set to face Getafe earlier on Sunday, while Barcelona’s fixture against Osasuna was postponed following the death of one of the club’s doctors.
