Covenant University (CU), a renowned private Christian university in Ogun State has emerged top on the list of best universities in Nigeria, according to the Times Higher Education’s 2024 World Universities Rankings.
The latest rankings, released on Thursday, encompass 108 countries and regions globally.
A total of 39 Nigerian universities made the list, with Covenant University taking the lead.
Following closely behind are top ranking institutions like the University of Ibadan (UI), Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), University of Lagos (UNILAG), and Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
Globally, the University of Oxford maintains its position at the top of the rankings for the eighth consecutive year.
The comprehensive analysis for the 2024 ranking considered over 134 million citations from 16.5 million research publications, along with feedback from 68,402 scholars worldwide.
In total, Nigeria amassed 411,789 data points from over 2,673 institutions as reported by The Times Higher Education.
