COVID-19: Nigeria Records 8 New Death, Total Fatalities Hit 1,350

The number of deaths from coronavirus (COVID-19) complications rose to 1,350 in Nigeria with eight new fatalities, the country’s health agency has announced.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said it also recorded 1,585 new infections of the disease on Saturday.

NCDC reported that the country has so far tested 1,018,061 persons since the first confirmed case of the COVID-19 pandemic was first announced in the country in February 2020.

The centre the new infections were recorded from 25 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with Lagos State registering 573 while the FCT has 182.

Others states are Plateau (162), Gombe (81), Oyo (75), Rivers (68), Sokoto (58), Ondo (55), Ogun (42), Nasarawa (40), Akwa Ibom (36), Edo (31), Kaduna (27), Anambra (22), Delta (19), Kano (17), Osun (17), Ebonyi (16), Katsina (14), Niger (14), Bayelsa (9), EKiti (8), Borno (7), Jigawa (5), Abia (4), and Bauchi (3)

The centre also said that Nigeria reported eight COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours.

The new 1,585 cases have brought the total number of infections in the country is now 99,063.

The centre said that out of the 99,063 total case, 79,417 patients recovered and were discharged.

It said discharges today include 419 community recoveries in Lagos State, 123 community recoveries in Gombe State and 117 community recoveries in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines.

The agency said that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, is coordinating response activities nationwide.
