American scientist Anthony Fauci has admitted that all COVID-19 policies, including social distancing, mask mandates, and other preventive measures, were made up during the peak of the pandemic.
The former head of the White House COVID-19 response team and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Fauci, confirmed this during questioning by Republican lawmakers on Monday regarding the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his testimony, Fauci stated that rules such as the six-foot social distancing and the use of face masks, along with other protocols, were improvised. He acknowledged that there was no supporting study for social distancing and admitted to not examining any research on the impact of mask mandates on children.
Interestingly, concerning the virus’s origin, Anthony Fauci suggested that COVID-19 might have leaked from a laboratory, aligning with the widely held theory that the pandemic originated from a leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in Hubei province, China.
“I think people have made conspiracy aspects from it,” he said, adding, “It could be a lab leak,” Toronto Sun reported, citing the committee transcripts from the hearing on Monday.
“So I think that in and of itself isn’t inherently a conspiracy theory, but some people spin off things from that that are kind of crazy.”
“You know, I don’t recall. It sort of just appeared,” Mr Fauci said.
