Covington Dares Nigerian-born UFC Stars

Former Ultimate Fight Championship welterweight champion, Colby Covington has said he will like to fight Kamaru Usman again while he has his eyes on a bout with Israel Adesanya.

Usman has defeated Covington twice in the past but with the mixed martial artist’s defeat of Jorge Masvidal, his spirit is high for potential bouts.

In his interview with Submission Radio, Covington said he could go some weight up to challenge the Middleweight’s undefeated New Zealander, Adesanya.

“I think I can definitely go up to 185 and fight Adesanya, but I don’t know if he’s gonna turn around like that,” he said.

Covington boasted about his chances with Adesanya and said he defeated the Edo-born Usman fighter twice, a statement that’s premised on falsehood.

Usman had faced Covington twice and defeated and dominated him in both fights.

“Some of the guys they’re trying to line him up with, it’s unoriginal. Why can Kamaru Usman fight him all the fans want that, but the guy that beat Usman – I beat Usman. I beat Usman twice.” he said.

“It was an easy win for me, easy decision victory. Unanimous. So, why can’t I fight Adesanya? He can’t stop my wrestling. I’ll pick him up and drop him on his head. He’s a cardio kickboxer. So, I don’t think Adesanya could stop my American wrestling, and I don’t think he’s that good a fighter.”
