Renowned Nollywood actor and producer Seun Ajayi says creative choices play a pivotal role in determining a movie’s success. They shape not only the film’s narrative and aesthetics but also its ability to resonate with audiences.

While speaking on Newscentral’s show Jasiri, Ajayi said that decisions regarding the creativity involved in scripting, direction, casting, and cinematography are fundamental in crafting a compelling story that engages viewers emotionally.

“It is all about your creative choices while telling the story. While a base level of equipment is required to shoot a movie, it is human beings that movies, not equipment.”

Agreeing with the narrative that not all movies are cinema-worthy, Ajayi stressed that seeing a film at the cinema isn’t necessarily for the story-telling but for the experience.

He added that a well-written screenplay with fresh perspectives or intricate plots can captivate audiences. At the same time, a director’s unique vision and innovative techniques can transform an ordinary story into an unforgettable cinematic experience.

“Some people pick a niche and focus on it, and sometimes it is the story that travels farther. Essentially, the story that you tell will travel as far as how you tell it.”
