CS Sfaxien of Tunisia came back from a first leg defeat to make it to the semi-final of the CAF Confederation Cup after beating Zambia’s Nkana 2-0 at the Stade Taieb Mhiri on Sunday.
A strike from Firas Chaouat in the seventh minute leveled the tie on aggregate as the home side continued to press forward and late in the game. Sfaxien stole the win late on courtesy of a strike from Alaa Marzouki in the 90th minute to make it 2-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate.
In other CAF Confederation Cup games, a second half volley from a tight angle by winger Ibrahim Hassan was enough to take Egyptian side Zamalek to the Semi-final with a nervy 1-0 victory over Morocco’s Hassania Agadir in Suez. The goal, four minutes into the second half was enough to see Zamalek through after the first leg ended in a 0-0 draw.
Another Moroccan side, RS Berkane thumped Gor Mahia of Kenya 5-1 in their second leg match at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Morocco. As a result, the Moroccan side eased into the semi-final after winning the tie 7-1 on aggregate.
RS Berkane will now face Tunisian giants CS Sfaxien in the semi-final while Zamalek will face the winner of the suspended quarter final clash between Tunisia’s Etoile Sahel and Sudan’s Al Hilal.
