Cyclone Jude has claimed at least six lives and caused significant destruction in northern Mozambique, including the destruction of more than 900 homes.
The storm, which struck on Monday, brought winds of up to 195 km/h (120 mph) and heavy rainfall exceeding 250mm (10 inches) in just 24 hours, according to the National Institute of Meteorology.
Although the cyclone has weakened into a tropical storm, it continues to bring intense rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms, affecting thousands.
The National Institute for Risk and Disaster Management confirmed that over 9,500 people have been affected, with 20 injured in the storm’s wake.

Cyclone Jude is the third such storm to impact Mozambique in the past four months.
In December, Cyclone Chido caused the deaths of at least 120 people and destroyed nearly 120,000 homes, while Cyclone Dikeledi in mid-January killed at least five and destroyed almost 3,500 homes.
