Dangote Refinery will be meeting with Nigerian petroleum marketers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Chinedu Ukadike, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) spokesperson, disclosed this in an interview on Arise Tv on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
He said that if more steps were taken to distribute petrol, the product’s price would drop for Nigerians.
“We hope to sit down with Dangote maybe Tuesday or Wednesday and if they give us a template or price, the more we take action in terms of distribution lines, the price will come down.
“We are not afraid of this competition. We have organised ourselves and are ready to compete because this is the survival of the fittest”, he said.
This development comes as the Nigerian government announced that oil marketers can now buy petrol directly from Dangote Refinery meaning that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited(NNPCL) is no longer the sole buyer of Dangote Petrol.
Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Naira-Crude Sale Implementation Committee, disclosed this in a statement last Friday.
Recall that the NNPCL increased the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in its retail outlets in Abuja to N1,030 per litre last Wednesday.
The increase comes after PMS price jumped from N617 to N879 per litre in September 2024.
