Daniel Bwala Receives Heavy Backlash Over Support for APC

Nigerian politician and former Spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign in 2023 Daniel Bwala has been criticised for declaring his support for the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

The opposition member who paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday, said he was committed to supporting the new administration even if it meant defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) party.

Speaking to the press after the visit, Bwala said he was intrigued by President Tinubu’s proactiveness in tackling issues, including the cost of governance. He hastened to remind the public that he had always being on Tinubu’s side, and will continue to support him.

“What have we been talking about as citizens, if you don’t have a personal grudge against someone if it is a policy issue? When policies are going correctly…and what I’m saying apart from today that I’m talking here, you all need to visit my Twitter (X) page.

“In the last few days, I have been expressing my surprise and appreciation to the President for the decisions he is taking. So, this is not about political party.

“You need to know that I was with him before I left and I was doggedly committed to him. I told him today. I’m committing to playing my part to support your administration. And I have no apologies to anybody.

“APC is a party. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is my motivation, if supporting him will take me to APC, so be it,” he said.

Shortly after Bwala’s outing, Nigerians took to Twitter to call him out for speaking from both sides of his mouth. His old tweets where he was constantly criticising the APC emerged.

One of the tweets read:

“The Human brain is unique and miraculous. It works and functions optically 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, UNTIL YOU JOIN APC, THEN IT STOPS WORKING”, the tweet dated November 25, 2022 read.

Bwala had in the past, criticised the APC over the choice of a Muslim-Muslim ticket during the 2023 presidential elections, when Vice President Kashim Shettima was unveiled as President Tinubu’s running mate.

Few weeks again, Bwala blurted out during an interview, that President Tinubu will achieve nothing even if given 30 years in office.

Some comments that trailed Bala’s presidential visit and utterances:

@T_akinpade

The political transfer window is now open!

Here we go!

Daniel Judas Bwala has finally completed his deal to move back to his former criminal party APC.

Medical has been done, and he tested positive for betrayal.

@TheSerahIbrahim

Daniel Bwala moving over to the illegitimate mandate bandit is of no surprise to me.

Bwala is so selfish, that all through his years in politics have never remembered his own people, his own community or even his own village.

The village where he comes from, have NEVER had common water before.

A community that is over 100 years but even dirty water to bath, they don’t have.

Daniel Bwala is a big shame. People like him are transactional.

A man that does not care about the growth of his own people, can NEVER care about the growth of a whole NATION.

@CheezyCharles

Daniel Bwala as the new face of stomach infrastructure in Nigeria!

@RealOlaudah

Daniel Bwala’s political volte face is that of a typical Nigerian politician. Unreliable, self-centered, shameless, treacherous, and double-faced. Are you surprised? I’m not.
