Aminu Dantata, a businessman from Kano, has supported the idea of a parliamentary form of government as a means of resolving Nigeria’s issues.
Dantata made this declaration on Thursday during a visit to his Kano home from a group headed by Kingsley Chinda, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives.
On Wednesday, a group of 60 federal lawmakers proposed an amendment to the 1999 constitution for a departure from the presidential system of government to the parliamentary system of government.
Federal lawmakers met on Thursday with the Kano-based businessman to solicit his support.
Dantata, who doesn’t often talk about politics in the nation, gave his opinion on the politicians’ plan. He asserted that the parliamentary form of administration is the best option.
The Minority Leader of the House led the team and is confident that the parliamentary system of government would bring an end to Nigeria’s challenges.
The lawmakers will consider this endorsement as a major boost in their effort to effect a constitutional change in the country.
