Eight domestic employees were brought in for interrogation over the death of Davido’s son Ifeanyi Adeleke, the Lagos State Police Command reported on Tuesday.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, who confirmed the news to our correspondent, said the domestic workers’ accounts will help the command determine what exactly happened to cause the three-year-old boy’s death.
Hundeyin added that anyone deemed negligently accountable will be kept back to aid the command in the ongoing investigation. He added that everyone not found guilty would be freed right away.
Hundeyin said, “His (Ifeanyi’s) death is confirmed. His (Davido’s) domestic workers have been brought in for questioning and anybody found not culpable will be allowed to go immediately.
“About eight of them were brought in to narrate their version of what happened to assist us in getting what really happened.
“At the end of their narrations, whoever that is found not guilty of negligence or not culpable in anyway will be allowed to go.
“Anybody found culpable will stay back to assist us in further investigation. The domestic workers are about eight that were brought in.”
News Central had reported that Ifeanyi reportedly drowned in a swimming pool at his father’s residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State.
After being taken from the pool, the three-year-old boy was reportedly transferred to a hospital in the Lekki district of the state, where one of the attending physicians verified his death.
Nigerians, especially fans of entertainment, have been incensed and traumatized by the development ever since the news of Ifeanyi’s alleged death became public knowledge.
A number of famous people have sent cryptic remarks that seem to corroborate Ifeanyi’s passing. Among them are the comedians Ayo Makun and Lasisi Elenu, as well as Daddy Freeze, a radio host.
