In Gwoza town, Borno State, a tragic double suicide bombing has resulted in multiple fatalities. The first explosion occurred at a wedding venue in Tashan Mararaba, where a female bomber, carrying a baby, detonated an IED. At least seven guests were killed, and numerous others were injured.
Meanwhile, another bomber, disguised as a mourner, targeted mourners preparing for a funeral in Gwoza LGA shortly after. This second attack claimed the lives of civilians paying their respects, with one additional casualty and 16 injuries reported.
Both incidents have prompted the military to enforce a curfew in Gwoza to secure the area against further threats. The state police have not yet issued a formal statement regarding the attacks.
