Dele Momodu Speaks on Davido, Sophia’s Custody Conflict

The famous journalist and editor Dele Momodu, has revealed the intense legal dispute between his niece Sophia Momodu and her well-known baby daddy, Afrobeat superstar Davido.

On July 6, Momodu shared a shocking Instagram post in which he revealed his complete surprise at Davido’s recent court antics. Momodu was shocked by the Afrobeat icon’s blatant affidavit in which he claimed to have been cut off from his daughter Imade.

Momodu disclosed that, contrary to Davido’s assertions, the musician and his kin have enjoyed unimpeded entry to Imade. Momodu claimed that once Davido made the decision to cease paying Imade’s school fees, he informed Davido’s father, Deji Adeleke, who not only paid for all of the student’s tuition but also gave the child a car.

The politician continued by revealing that Sophia and Imade’s accommodation payments were the true source of dispute.

He stated that Sophia suggested Davido pay the entire amount while she just paid half of the rent. Davido, however, rejected this offer, stating that he could only afford to pay N5 million annually—a sum that was significantly less than Sophia had anticipated.

In his words,

“Sophia allowed David access to their daughter, provided she has her nanny around 24/7. The 9-year-old herself made this request, and I believe this should be favourably considered and accepted. My grand-niece had been released to go out with her cousins on several occasions.”

Momodu also provided insight into how Imade made time for Davido’s family. According to him, the only time Sophia refused to release Imade was when Davido’s father wanted her to travel with them.

The publisher of ovation magazine pointed out that Sophia had already scheduled a flight for her daughter to attend another event, which caused this one-of-a-kind disagreement in their generally cordial relationship.
