The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Burutu State Constituency 1 rerun election, Alapala Anthony Ebitonmo, has been declared the winner of the Saturday polls.
This was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday.
Alapala defeated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asupa Forteta, after winning all the units where the rerun election was held.
The APC candidate won the election with more than 50 per cent of the votes cast in the four units; Ayakoromor Unit 8, Edegbene Unit 27, Enekorogha Unit 26, and Oboro Unit 9.
According to the results announced, out of 15,381 total votes cast, 14,809 were confirmed valid, while 578 were declared void.
Alapala was presented with a certificate of return by the returning officer after polling 7,728 votes, while his PDP opponent received 6,616 votes.
