Develop a Mindset for Self-Development– Maj. Gen. Arogundade

The Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (NASEME), Major General Oladele Arogundade, has urged students to embrace a mindset focused on continuous self-development, which is essential for improving their skills as engineers and technicians.

Major General Arogundade gave this advice on Friday, 18 October 2024, during the combined graduation ceremony of the Officers’ Armoured and Artillery Electronics Equipment Course 19, Tank Guns Maintenance Course 22, and Special Motor Vehicle Repair Course 1, all from 2024, held at the NASEME Auditorium in Auchi. He also praised the students for their dedication and encouraged them to uphold the high standards of professionalism and excellence they learned during their training.

The Commandant expressed confidence that the graduates of the OAAEEC course are well-prepared to lead teams in repairing key Nigerian Army platforms such as the Cobra APC, Scorpion Vehicle Combat Recce Tracked, and the 35mm Oerlikon Radar and Gun control system. He also revealed that the Special Motor Vehicle Repair Course has equipped students to repair and maintain industrial generators and trucks with similar engines from the Nigerian Army’s inventory. He added, “I am convinced that the Tank Guns Maintenance Course students can effectively repair and maintain various tank guns in the Army’s inventory with little or no supervision.”

Additionally, the Commandant highlighted the ongoing innovative projects at NASEME, noting that these innovations are integrated into the training in alignment with the command’s philosophy of “Transforming the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force to fulfil our constitutional duties in a joint environment.” He also took the opportunity to thank the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, for his strategic leadership and continuous support to NASEME.

The event included a presentation of a souvenir to two Malawian students, Staff Sergeant John Msowoya and Corporal Newa Isaac, as well as certificates and awards to students who excelled in their courses. Among the attendees was His Royal Highness Lukman Odaman, the Zaiki of Ikpeshi and Ogbegeri Clan, along with members of his entourage.
