With the Grammys around the corner, the recording academy has announced the list of honourees for the highly coveted Special Merit Awards which is returning for the first time since 2020.
The ceremony will also present a long list of iconic acts with Lifetime Achievement Awards, from 1960s hit American girl group, The Supremes, American rock band, Nirvana, to late blues singer, Ma Rainey and English-American rapper Slick Rick.
Remarkably, the ceremony will mark Diana Ross’ second Lifetime Achievement Award, recall she received the honor first as a soloist in 2012. Although the now 78-year-old legend has never won a competitive Grammy, she is nominated at this year’s show — her first nomination in 40 years. She will compete for best traditional pop vocal album with her album ‘Thank You’
Recall that American magazine Rollingstone released its list of the greatest singers of all times and excluded Diana Ross.
The event will take place Feb. 4 at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles, a day before the 65th annual Grammy Awards.
