Dikko Radda Wins Katsina State Governorship Election (News Central TV)

Dr. Dikko Radda, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has won the March 18th Gubernatorial Election in Katsina State, North-west Nigeria.

After collating results from the State’s 34 Local Government Areas, the Returning Officer, Professor Mu’azu Abubakar of Federal University Gusau, proclaimed Dr Radda the winner of the election.

Dr. Radda received 859,892 ballots, defeating his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rival, Yakubu Lado, who received 486,620 votes.

Nura Khalil of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, received 8263 votes, Imran Jino of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, received 4,226 votes, Ibrahim Zakari of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, received 1,049 votes, and Abu Musawa of the Labour Party received 560 votes.

Thirteen candidates ran in the race. The incumbent governor, Aminu Masari, was ineligible because his legally mandated second term was coming to an end.

According to Professor Abubakar, the number of registered electors in Katsina state is 3,516,719, and the number of accredited voters is 1,399,291. The total number of valid ballots is 1,365, 848, with 20,579 rejected. There were 1,386,427 votes cast in the gubernatorial election.
