Don Jazzy Under Fire Over Instagram ‘Hook Up’

Nigerian record producer, record executive, songwriter, and philanthropist, Michael Collins Ajereh, known professionally as Don Jazzy, has published a video to clear the ‘misconception’ going round.

In the afternoon of Tuesday, October 12, 2021, Don Jazzy posted 3 pictures of one Sulaimon Aishah (@haishah._) on Instagram and asked guys to shoot their shots. He mentioned that Aishah‘s favorite ‘shot’ would win the 100k prize, and he would also sponsor a dinner date for both of them:

This ‘gesture’ did not quite go down well with social media users as they saw it as indirect pimping/hookup. Some said it was an act too low from Don Jazzy, and others assumed that he wouldn’t be called out on this because he’s a billionaire philanthropist who constantly does giveaway.

In an attempt to defend himself, the music producer published a video a few hours afterward, asking people to calm down, as he didn’t mean any harm. He said:

“So I posted a video of a young lady on Instagram and I said that guys should come and shoot their shots. And apparently, some moral Police on Twitter, awon too cool for school, and too school for cool, they are already taking it personal. They’ve started carrying placard, Don Jazzy n shey hook up sha, hmmm, what’s he doing? You people should live a lirru, just you know, calm down. You are not following me, if you were following me, you’d see that yesterday, I posted a picture of myself and I told the girls to shoot their shot. It was just a driving engagement something, we were jonzing. And just looking at funny posts and tweets, and funny shots. So today, I said the guys should shoot their shots, and I asked, oh, who wants me to use their picture? And some people said I should use their pictures. And I used the young lady’s picture. She has grown from 15000 followers to about 23000 followers. Nobody is dying, it’s not, just…”
