Sporting director Sebastian Kehl expressed the club’s disappointment, highlighting Schlotterbeck’s importance to the team, especially during a challenging season.

Schlotterbeck, a regular starter for the German national team, also faces a difficult recovery timeline that casts doubt on his availability for the upcoming Nations League semi-finals.
Reports in German media indicate Dortmund’s desire to extend Schlotterbeck’s contract, which expires in 2027, amid interest from other clubs, including Liverpool.
Dortmund’s upcoming matches include a Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona and a Bundesliga clash with Bayern Munich.
