Borussia Dortmund have announced that centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the meniscus in his left knee.
Sporting director Sebastian Kehl expressed the club’s disappointment, highlighting Schlotterbeck’s importance to the team, especially during a challenging season.
Dortmund, last season’s Champions League finalists, are currently struggling in the Bundesliga standings.

Schlotterbeck, a regular starter for the German national team, also faces a difficult recovery timeline that casts doubt on his availability for the upcoming Nations League semi-finals.
Reports in German media indicate Dortmund’s desire to extend Schlotterbeck’s contract, which expires in 2027, amid interest from other clubs, including Liverpool.
Dortmund’s upcoming matches include a Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona and a Bundesliga clash with Bayern Munich.
