Dozens Dead as Israeli Strike Targets UN School in Gaza (News Central TV)

A United Nations-run school in central Gaza was struck by an Israeli airstrike overnight, resulting in dozens of casualties, according to Palestinian authorities.

The school, serving as a shelter for displaced people, was hit by missiles, killing at least 45 people and injuring others.

The Israeli military confirmed the airstrike, stating it targeted a Hamas compound within the school.

Despite measures to minimise risk, casualties are reported to be high, with hospitals overwhelmed by the influx of victims.

The attack occurred amidst escalating tensions and a humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Efforts for ceasefire negotiations continue, but Israel’s Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant asserts military operations will persist.

“We are in a process of continuous engagement to wear down the enemy. Any negotiations with the terrorist organisation Hamas will only be conducted under fire,” Gallant said in a recorded video statement on Wednesday, June 5.
