Egypt, US Draft Health Grant Agreement Passes 4th Revision

The Cabinet of Egypt has accepted a draft presidential decree on the fourth revision to an Egyptian-US grant agreement aimed at improving health outcomes for specific groups during its weekly meeting on Wednesday.

The fourth amendment increases grant support by $18.05 million, bringing USAID’s total commitment to $49.136 million.

The amendment is intended to assist in the continuation of activities related to a project to enhance health outcomes for targeted groups, which includes supporting the family planning program and the Egypt Demographic and Health Survey 2018.

A draft presidential decree on the fifth amendment to the grant agreement between Egypt and the United States on basic education was also approved by the Cabinet.

The fifth amendment increases the grant support by $17 million, increasing the total USAID commitment to $124.110 million.

The amendment aims to keep the basic education program’s activities going, such as the Egyptian-American learning program, the Egypt STEM Schools Project, adult literacy programs, and community learning programs.

In addition to the US-Egypt Higher Education Initiative, the Cabinet adopted a draft presidential decree on the sixth revision to the grant assistance agreement in reference to US-Egypt partnership in science and technology.
