In a letter to the Liberian justice ministry, Ms. Nkrumah said the user, identified as Carson, wrote on Facebook urging the Monrovia mayor to send her “down six feet”.

The user claimed that the action would draw the focus of the international community to the insecurity in Liberia.

Ms Nkrumah informed Liberian authorities that the remark posed a “grave threat” to her life and the lives of the Ecowas mission staff in the country.

Between December 2016 and February 2022, when she resigned to accept the ECOWAS position, Ms. Nkrumah, who had previously served as the deputy chairperson of Ghana’s National Commission on Culture NCC, served as the commission’s substantive chairperson.
