Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), criticised the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) for the late arrival of voting materials in his polling unit.
While speaking to the press, Ighodalo expressed dissatisfaction over the electoral process, which was seamless.
” We’ve been here now for about two hours, and many people have been here much longer than I have been. It’s good that we’ve cast our ballot, but I think I’m not happy with the process that delayed the coming of materials.
“Again, this is a single-state election. INEC had all the time to prepare all the resources and so we shouldn’t have had all the problems that we had today. But having said that, it is a good thing that the people have been calm, patient and steadfast and they made up their mind that they will stay here and wait the process, cast their vote and nothing would deter them.”
Talking about his party, Ighodalo stated his satisfaction with their performance reports. He expressed concern about the indiscriminate arrest of his party’s supporters.
Ighodalo criticised the behaviour of APC supporters and called on Nigerian authorities to ensure a fair and equitable playing field for everyone.
He condemned the arrest of one of his supporters in Uromi, stating that the individual was attempting to get accredited at his polling unit.
