In a surprising turn of events, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has lost his local government area, Oredo, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the declared results, APC candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo received 30,780 votes, while Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obaseki’s chosen candidate, garnered 24,938 votes. Olumide Akpata from the Labour Party received 5,389 votes.
The loss in Oredo, the governor’s political stronghold, marks a notable shift in the electoral landscape of Edo State.
