Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu and former Governor Adam Oshiomhole have successfully delivered Etsako West Local Government for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ongoing 2024 gubernatorial election.
In Etsako West, home to both Shaibu and Oshiomhole, APC’s candidate, Monday Okpebholo, secured a commanding victory, polling 32,107 votes. He defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, who garnered 17,483 votes.
Shaibu’s support for the APC marked a significant political shift, as he had recently rejoined the party after a protracted conflict with his former ally, Governor Godwin Obaseki, who had backed Ighodalo as the PDP candidate.
