According to the draft appropriation bill, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will need to spend N2 billion in 2025 to fuel their operational cars.
A N47.90 trillion budget, dubbed the “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace and Rebuilding Prosperity,” was submitted to the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu on December 18.
The administration’s dedication to addressing the country’s security issues is demonstrated by the sizeable N4.91 trillion set aside for defence and security in the proposed budget.
The analysis of the appropriation bill shows that the EFCC has set aside N808.7 million for car fuel alone, with an additional N462 million designated for year-round refreshments and meals.
The DSS also allocated N1.4 million for the purchase of tactical counterterrorism equipment and N1.37 billion for vehicle fuelling.
Additionally, N1.1 billion was suggested for sophisticated cybersecurity technologies and N1.4 billion for the purchase of weapons and ammunition.
Further demonstrating the administration’s emphasis on bolstering national security, the DSS and other organisations under the Office of the National Security Adviser have set aside N960 billion in 2025 for the upkeep of the country’s defence aircraft and the acquisition of security equipment in a variety of industries.
