Egypt Expands Domestication of Fishing Vessel Industry (News Central TV)

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has convened a meeting with Senior government officials in order to scale up efforts to localise the country’s fishing vessel industry.

The Spokesperson for the Presidency Assam Rady said that Sisi was briefed on progress on efforts to localise the modern fishing vessels industry.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly; Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), Lieutenant-General Osama Rabie; Minister of Local Development, Major-General Hisham Amna; and CEO of the South Red Sea Shipyard (SRSS), Mostafa El-Degeishy.

President El Sisi gave instructed that the construction process of boats should be integrated with the state’s efforts to support fishermen and upgrade natural lakes nationwide.

Rady added that the fish production of the lakes is expected to double, hence supporting the economic conditions of fishermen, boosting food security and the national economy, implementing the state’s firm strategy of sound management, and boosting Egypt’s natural resources.

The meeting also discussed joint efforts with the private sector to localise the construction of modern yachts, and their maintenance, repair, and construction centres, given Egypt’s potential in the field of marine tourism in the Mediterranean, the Red Sea and the Suez Canal Corridor, and capitalising on Egypt’s unique geographic location and its modern ports along the coasts.
