Egyptian Foreign Minister and representative at the Arab League meeting left angrily on Tuesday in protest against the decision to allow representative of Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Dbeibah lead the meeting.
Egypt currently supports Dbeibah’s rival administration in the East as it says the security situation in Libya is creeping into their country.
Najla Mangoush, the Foreign Minister of the UN-recognised Tripoli-based government addressed a meeting of foreign ministers of the Arab League in Cairo with Egypt conspicuously missing.
Sameh Shukry, the Egyptian Foreign Minister took his leave when the Libyan representative took her place as the head of the meeting.
Militants in Libya are using the deserts as a safe abode for the launching of deadly attacks against Egyptian security networks and Christians in the country.
Egypt is firmly supporting the Eastern Libya leadership set up by the parliament to run as a parallel government against UN-set Dbeibah’s.
Mangoush, representing Libya was quick to downplay the action by the Egyptian rep and said it was not a crisis.
It’s “not a crisis but a divergence of views, ” she described the Tuesday incident.
Trouble has resumed in Libya as Dbeibah’s administration is under threat after election didn’t hold in December over the lack of a constitution.
The Parliament has since set up another government led by, Fathi Bashaga.
