Egyptian Authorities have said that the Palestinian cause will continue to be the top concern for Arab nations because regional stability cannot be achieved without a just and comprehensive resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict based on the two-state solution and the pertinent international legitimacy resolutions.
This was stated in a statement made on Tuesday to commemorate the annual International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which is celebrated on November 29.
The ministry added that while the Palestinian problem is the main concern for the Arab community, Egypt constantly stands up for it. The ministry reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian issue.
It emphasised Egypt’s call for an end to acts of violence in the occupied Palestinian territories and for stopping unilateral actions that obstruct finding a solution to the conflict, particularly illegal settlement activities, expulsion and eviction policies for Palestinians in Jerusalem, changing the demographics of the holy city, and the division of Al Aqsa Mosque‘s time and space.
The ministry emphasised that Egypt will continue to make unceasing and sincere efforts, with the support of the international community and partners, to restart the Middle East peace process and to encourage Palestinians and Israelis to return to the negotiating table out of historical responsibility and commitment to upholding the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
In a related development, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) joined “millions of freedom and peace-loving people across the world in marking the 45th anniversary of the International Day of Solidarity with the People of Palestine.”
In a statement issued by Sinawo Thambo, National Spokesperson, EFF, it states that the party stands ” in solidarity with Palestine, calls for the return of their land, and we condemn the bloodthirsty and repressive US-backed regime of the so-called State of Israel. We further call on the United Nations to stop paying lip service to the freedom of the people of Palestine, and start isolating Israel. This will however be impossible until the UN Security Council is reformed to remove veto powers from the few countries that support the crimes committed by Israel against the people of Palestine.”
The United Nations General Assembly in 1977, called for 29 November to be observed as an annual day for solidarity with the plight of the people of Palestine.
