Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population has announced it recorded 840 new coronavirus infections, pushing the total number of confirmed cases reported in the North African country since the beginning of the outbreak to 390,294.

Health Ministry spokesman, Abdel Ghaffar, in a statement, said 19 patients also died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 21,882.

The spokesman said 512 patients have been discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving medical care, bringing the number to 324,425 recovered cases so far.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 vaccines consignments — whose size ranges between 20,000 and 50,000 doses — will arrive in Egypt by the end of January.

The vaccines include “Baclofen” (20,000 doses); and “Evusheld” (50,000); and the Egypt-produced “Molnupiravir.”

According to the Ministry of Health, the recovery rate from the coronavirus (COVID-19) at Egyptian isolation hospitals reached 83.3 per cent after the number of patients recovering from the virus rose to 321,568.
