Egypt Seeks Revival of  Israel-Palestine Peace Talks

Egypt Calls for Emergency Meeting on Ukraine Conflict

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shourky held talks on Monday in Cairo with Palestinian Deputy Prime Minister Ziad Abu Amr and Minister of Social Development Ahmed Majdalani about revitalizing the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, according to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

Egypt’s Shoukry stated that Egypt continues to support Palestinians in rebuilding Gaza after last year’s Israeli attack. At present, Egypt is building three towns in Gaza for 300,000 residents.

A ceasefire brokered by Egypt stopped an 11-day Israeli assault on Gaza in May 2021, resulting in 250 Palestinian deaths and $450 million in financial losses. At the time, Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi pledged $500 million for Gaza reconstruction.

Egypt’s foreign minister also reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the creation of an independent Palestinian state whose capital is East Jerusalem based on 1967 borders.

For their part, the Palestinian officials expressed their appreciation for Egypt’s supportive role in the Palestinian cause.

Meanwhile, Israel’s occupation is alleged to have killed 60 Palestinian women, including 22 minors, in the besieged Gaza Strip between August 3rd, 2021, and August 3rd, 2022.

In a report released on International Women’s Day, a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8, the al-Mezan centre for human rights reported that four women were killed by artillery shells, 56 by missiles, and 645 others, including 248 minors, sustained various injuries during the latest Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip in May 2021.
