Egypt sees 5.3% dip in budget deficit

The Egyptian economy saw a 5.3 per cent dip this year, from 6.2 percent recorded for last year, from the country’s Gross Domestic Product.

The country earned a surplus of 35.5 billion Egyptian pounds or $2.07 billion in the first nine months of the 2018/2019 fiscal year – at 0.7 per cent of the GDP.

Egyptian Finance Minister, Mohamed Maait made the disclosure yesterday adding that Egypt has a primary deficit of 7 billion pounds, 0.2 per cent in the same period
