Egypt is airlifting medical supplies to Lebanon to assist them in responding to the cholera outbreak on the orders of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
Large quantities of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies were carried on a military transport aircraft that departed from East Cairo Air Base. By providing this assistance, the Ministry of Health and Population hopes to assist the people of Lebanon in containing the cholera outbreak.
Officials from Lebanon acknowledged their gratitude for Egypt’s ongoing efforts. They also praised Egypt for its ongoing assistance to Lebanon in keeping the cholera outbreak under control before it expanded throughout the entire country. Egypt’s assistance to Lebanon is a confirmation of their close historical ties.
Meanwhile, Egypt is keen on promoting ties with Tanzania at all levels, especially in its investments in the vital sectors, topped by the construction of Tanzanian Julius Nyerere Dam to generate hydroelectric power.
President Sisi said this during his meeting on Wednesday with Tanzanian President Samia Hassan on the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference (UNCCC).
