Egypt Set to Build Logistics Corridor in Tanzania

Egypt’s Minister of Transportation, Kamel Al-Wazir, plans to build a logistics corridor that will run from Tanzania’s Dar Es Salaam Port through a logistics area and dry port in Tanzania before concluding at a dry port and logistics area in Rwanda.

The project seeks to improve Egyptian exports’ access to African markets and strengthen Egyptian-African ties.

The Ministry has built a network of 27 dry ports and logistical zones around Egypt to facilitate trade movements and relieve congestion of goods and containers at seaports.

Egypt’s Minister of Transportation, Kamel Al-Wazir, examined the Kigali Dry Port in Rwanda, one of Egypt’s African projects.

The inspection was conducted by Minister of Transportation Kamel Al-Wazir, who was joined by Egypt’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Nermin Al-Zawahiri.

The port, which covers 50,000 square metres and has an annual capacity of 50,000 equivalent container units, is considered the primary dry port in Rwanda, a landlocked African country.

This visit is in line with the Ministry of Transportation’s efforts, as directed by political leadership, to establish Egypt as a global trade and logistics hub. This entails executing a comprehensive strategy to improve connectivity between Egyptian ports and those throughout the world.
