Egyptian Minister of Education, Tarek Shawky, has affirmed that the new school year will be regular and that attendance in classrooms will be essential.
Public schools in Egypt will begin classes on October 9, while overseas students had begun classes on September 12.
He also stated that teachers and administrators are being vaccinated, with approximately 900,000 teachers and administrators having been inoculated thus far, with the rest of the workforce being vaccinated over the next week.
The ministry also announced the implementation of a Covid-19 prevention strategy.
This includes teaching kids to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 30 seconds before eating or drinking anything, as well as before recess and entering schools.
Other precautions include wearing the proper facemask, avoiding crowding, and maintaining social distance on school buses and when attending courses.
The instructions include that each student sits on a separate disk during class, and the teacher must maintain social distance with students when moving.
The ministry advised that it is preferable to rely on foods prepared in advance at the hostel or provided through school meals.
